Decadent Dark Chocolate Cake Recipe: Indulge in Rich and Irresistible Goodness

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.


In a large mixing bowl, sift together the flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Mix well to combine.


Add the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Beat on medium speed using an electric mixer for about 2 minutes, until the batter is smooth and well blended.


Stir in the boiling water into the batter. The batter will be thin, but that's okay. It will result in a moist cake.


Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans.


Bake in the preheated oven for 30 to 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cakes comes out clean.

Remove the cakes from the oven and allow them to cool in the pans for 10 minutes. Then, transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.


While the cakes are cooling, prepare the chocolate ganache. Place the finely chopped dark chocolate in a heatproof bowl. In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it just begins to simmer. Pour the hot cream over the chopped chocolate and let it sit for a minute. Stir gently until the chocolate is completely melted and the ganache is smooth. Set aside to cool and thicken.


To make the chocolate frosting, beat the softened butter in a mixing bowl until creamy. Gradually add the powdered sugar and cocoa powder, alternating with the milk, while beating on low speed. Add the vanilla extract and continue beating until the frosting is smooth and fluffy.


Once the cakes are completely cooled, place one cake layer on a serving plate. Spread a layer of chocolate ganache on top of the cake. Place the second cake layer on top and frost the entire cake with the chocolate frosting.

You can garnish the cake with chocolate shavings, sprinkles, or fresh berries if desired.


Slice and serve the dark chocolate cake, and enjoy the rich, indulgent flavors!
